Soujiji Temple
Sojiji is a temple of the Koyasan Shingon sect in Ibaraki City, Osaka Prefecture.
Sojiji Temple, famous as Kannon riding a turtle, was opened by Sir Yamakage Fujiwara in the Heian period. The story of Sojiji, which was opened by the turtle's gratitude, is also introduced in tale of Konjaku and Genpei Jōsuiki.
Sir Yamakage Fujiwara gave the Buddhist master a different menu every day for a thousand days. He is revered as the ancestor of the kitchen knife. The Hocho ceremony is held on April 18th every year and is worshiped by cooks.
